The ones I have are as follows:
Angela's Ashes- Frank McCourt
Geisha, A Life- Iwasaki Mineko
Ones that I want:
Tis- Frank McCourt
Teacher Man-Frank McCourt
Ones I have read:*I can't remember...type more later.*
First, Angela's ashes.
I love it because it is indeed a sad kind of book, but there are funny parts, mostly the way Frank McCourt words it is what makes it funny. Like there is a scene with his parents and the picture of the current Pope during their time. And when he had to wear his dead grandmother's dress cause his were hanging out drying^_~ that was a pretty funny scene. Kinda like comic relief. He is Irish, so it is quite different from some things I've read about people from around here^_^ Which is always a good thing. I originally read this for Fiction in my Senior year of High school and quite liked it so a year later I go out and buy it. I plan on buying his last two books as well.
Geisha, A Life
I love this book cause it talks about Geisha, women of Japanese society who are NOT and NEVER were prostitutes ever. That is what happens when a thing called a RUMOR start. Or else your stories get mixed up. Anyways, they are not prostitutes and never have been. This is about Iwasaki Mineko. I like her as she reminds me ALOT of my own mother. Hell, you hit on her or do anything she didn't like, and this women would GET you. I mean it. She was a pretty fiesty one when she wanted to be^_~ I loved reading this cause I learned more about almost a sub culture in Japanese culture, right from a geisha herself even^_^ I recommend reading it!!
