Well, since it technically IS a fanfic, it should go here (though the plot line, all characters, and stuff is original excluding certain aspects that must remain the same for canonoligical sake. . .). Problem though, 'Tis not anime related. But this is the only spot for fanfics, so move if nessicary. But just about everything is mine, save for the Emperor, Baneblades (as many should know xD), the Thunderhawk, Eldar and Chaos concepts.
I will post more in chunks if people want me to.
Part I: Burning Dragon
A resounding thump echoed through the small drop-pod as it was jettisoned from the hull of the battle barge Trinity. It drifted for a few moments before the rockets engaged, sending it hurtling towards the planets surface. Black metal started to glow dull red, then white as the atmosphere screamed by. Smoke trailed behind, cutting a black mark across the pale blue-white sky. More black trails sprouted behind the first, covering the sky with spikes of black. The pod shuddered as the rockets died, then lurched violently as the gravitational stabilizers engaged. Deceleration gripped the pod as nose rockets engaged, and then died ten seconds later. A minute passed, shaking and screaming, before the ground met the bottom of the hardened ceramic pod. The impact blasted a small crater in the rockcrete and soft earth beneath. The scorched metal continued to smoke, but the emblem shone brightly against the sides, a large black Dragon with burning red eyes.
Silence settled over the landing zone for a moment before vents near the top of the pod engaged, trading the superheated air inside the pod for the cooler outside. The sides slowly split from the pod, clicking as locks disengaged and groaning against warped hinges, and fell open across the ground.
The marines stormed out from the newly made doorways, bolters cutting into the Chaos forces surrounding the pod. Random shots flew back at the marines, but were deflected by the armor. Several flamers sprang to life and roasted a large group of the cultists, who fell to the ground screaming or ran around, touching off other cultists. Several other drop-pods slammed down, crashing though buildings or vehicles left in the streets. Four more squads of the Dragons jumped into the fighting from the newly landed pods, entering the fray with chainswords. What little organization the cultists had quickly fell apart under the onslaught.
A larger roar settled over the small battlefield. Several black troop transports plunged through the thin cloud cover, their engines screaming. The turrets located on the front of the drop ships opened up, raking the ground with bolter fire, clearing a small area. The first transport dropped onto the landing skids heavily, the troop door dropping moments after landing. Lasfire rounds shot out the second it was opened as the first Imperial Guard troops stormed out. Three more transports slammed down, sending more Guardsmen into the blood soaked plaza. The initial press from the Space Marines and the Guardsmen pushed the warp-twisted cultists back into the city, felling dozens in the retreat. The Guardsmen quickly set up a defensive perimeter around the landing zone. The transports flared their engines and lifted back into the air, disappearing through the clouds after a few minutes.
'Give me an estimate on causalities,' Space Marine Commander Mkail Vantous barked over the vox.
'Three Guardsmen were hit with glancing rounds, and Sergeant Krosly lost two fingers when a portion of the building his drop-pod landed in collapsed on his squads. Other then that, we are fine,' Brother-Captain Antares Tenokars answered.
'Status on the enemy?'
'They have either pulled back or have been slaughtered in the vicinity, sir.'
'Trinity control, this is Commander Vantous. The area has been secured, proceed to drop.'
'Copy, Vantous. Dropping underway. Standby.'
The Space Marines moved towards the drop-pods and began to disassemble them along the designated points, salvaging weaponry and ammo from them. Four scout teams headed off into the city, jumping from shadow to shadow towards their objectives. The Imperial Guardsmen unloaded the transports that began to land around them, setting up weapons platforms and moving flakboard to alley entrances and blocking them off. Another loud scream picked up in the air and a Thunderhawk dropped through the sparse cloud cover. The transport was of a varied design and allowed for large amounts of cargo to be stored underneath. A large command post hung from the magnetic coils. The Thunderhawk dropped the command post near the back end of the plaza, close to the surrounding decorative curtain wall. Several servitors dropped down beside the command post and began working on it, their cybernetic limbs humming and buzzing.
Mkail watched the Thunderhawk as it lifted back into the air, heading back towards the Trinity as it and its escort fleet continued to battle the small space fleet of the Heretics that still managed to hold above the planet. Destroying them was key to maintaining the foothold on the planet and driving the Ruinous Power off, but that would hardly be problematic for the combined might of the Space Marines and Imperial Guard fleet.
'Package arrived successfully, thanks Trinity. We’ll take it from here.'
'Rodger that Vantous. May the Emperor be with you.'
'With you as well. Out.'
Mkail reached around his helmet and undid the first series of seals. Sensing this, his armor automatically undid the rest. Mkail pulled the helmet off and got his first view of the planet with his own eyes. The buildings in the city were rundown from four months of disrepair and fighting. Several had collapsed outright and every now and then a crater dotted the rockcrete from artillery shells.
