Name: Issun
Nickname: Kolbaine doesn’t give him one, but other people seem to
Age: 12
D.O.B: May 2, 1996
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Personality: Whenever he is brought to a new place, he stays quiet and observes his surroundings. It gets more awkward if there are new people around, even asking his name. Issun gets painfully shy and will have a hard time answering questions. Once he warms up to the person, which means him hanging around them for ten or more minutes, Issun will start to talk, as if he knew them. He used to be set on keeping his family traditions, such as not having his hair cut until he was an adult. He felt that it was his fault that he failed that goal, as Kolbaine forced a haircut on him. He isn’t demanding, but if there is something he wants to keep, this boy will make sure the person pays for it; such as Kolbaine almost completely suffered from that wrath. Though Kolbaine may be hated for that one incident, Issun does like him as a friend and has complete trust in the soldier, not knowing his friend’s true intentions. Issun knows him, since he was six, as his grandfather brought Kolbaine, for his military training, to the island. Sadness affects him greatly; he shuts himself down and doesn’t interact with anyone. He loves to sing, as he is good at it, and is in the tenor and alto range, as his voice hasn’t changed yet. He hates to hunt due to his hunting related fears; boars, as he was nearly attack by them twice; sharp instruments that aren’t in his control, as he was accidentally stabbed in the left foot by a spear. Due to what recently happened, it’s a no-brainer that he doesn’t want to see big fires again. He still has a competitive drive in him, just waiting for someone to challenge him to a fight or any other type of physical challenge, so he can dominate over them. He sees winning as a way to let people know that he is important and is good with his skills; as he feels that people only say “Good job,” just to make someone feel better and it makes the loser acknowledge they were bested. Though he might be hesitant with new people and places, he isn’t the same way about food, as he will eat anything. He hasn’t had any food he hates. He is able to notice a lot of details, which is another reason he silently observes people and places, and can remember most of what he observes. If someone hands Issun a task, the person can count on two things; it’ll be done fast and he will not finish until he is done. He isn’t a morning person, if he wakes up to early he will suffer from a headache, appear sick, and feeling like that will ruin most of his day.
Appearance: Standing at 4’4’’, he is full-bodied* and slightly muscular, about 90 pounds. He has a circular head, which has shaven, blond hair. Issun’s body is darkly tanned and has several scars and injuries. From the head down, he has a scab on the left side of his head, from a recent, razor injury; a scar on his left check, from running into a door; burn scar on his left hand, because he picked up a hot piece of metal; scrape from his butt down, from him falling down a building; and toes 3 and 4 missing on his left foot, from a spear slipping out of someone hands hand and onto Issun’s foot. Though he doesn’t have much of a clothing choice, at the moment, he does tend to go barefoot, his feet are used to the abuse. He has light brown eyes, which looking into them you can easily determine his mood.
Sexual Orientation: Unknown
Family: Two parents and grandparents, who were killed
Current lover/boy-girlfriend/spouse: None
Offspring: Not yet interested with having a child with offspring; so no.
Job: None, as his jobs of being a fisher and choir member went along with the village.
Specialties: Knowledgeable, trained heavily in martial arts, can do things quickly, can sing really well, is a great spear fisher, and is able to notice details.
Weaknesses: Arrogant with his fighting ability, awkward with meeting new people, has a hard time adjusting to new situations, sadness and fears greatly affect him, and gets angry when he has to change something, even if the purpose is to help him. Right now, it would be also having too much faith in Kolbaine.
Likes: To practice fighting, singing, being outside, rain, fishing, and everything about his, recently destroyed, home
Dislikes: Being homesick, boars, haircuts, hunting, losing a fight, big fires, and sharp instruments being near him, that are out of his control.
Birth Place: Azure Island, one of the lesser known islands near Bermuda
History: Other than a history of getting hurt and training, nothing else pretty much happened. On the island, he was friends with just about everyone. Te night the occult raid, he went behind a building, and figured someone was there. He waited for the person to strike, so he could roll him. It turns out to be Kolbaine, who Issun slammed into a piece of wood. The boy did not account for the amount of force he used as well as Kolbaine’s weight, as that pushed them off the railing, explaining the scrape. Issun was knocked out on contact, hitting the ground. Later he woke, realizing it was his friend that he countered and that his home was destroyed. It took an entire day for him to start doing anything, other than just thinking about everything and everyone he had were gone. He doesn’t have any plan at the moment, as he hopes Kolbaine will think of something.
Sample Post: Issun wakes up, to painfully see dawn’s early light, going through the curtains. He groans as he hides his head under the pillow, as he’s getting a headache. In vain, he tries to fall back asleep, but gives up as soon as he hears a tired gruff, “Awake?”
His reply is a moan, from under a pillow “Yes…”
“Want breakfast?”
He didn’t want to eat, but his objective stomach persuades him to get out from under the pillow and tell Kolbaine, “Yes.”
The solider goes back into the kitchen from the 50’s, then comes, tossing a can and a fork, “This is the only thing the idiot has. It’s that or nothing,” he lied, not wanting to know what kind of drunk Issun would be.
The boy curiously opens the can of sardines, taking a small bit of the fish and swallows it. It was salty, but Issun devours the can for love the strange, new fish. Once he was finished breakfast, Kolbaine tosses him a pair of tan pants, “You need to change out of those shorts… I don’t need to see your butt hanging out.”
That reminds the kid about the spill he had taken, from knocking out the marine on the night of the destruction of his home. He looks at the pants then looks at Kolbaine, “Did have any shorts?”
“Not when I looked.”
“Can I have a pair of scissors?”
The soldier goes back into the kitchen, to grab the instrument, and then comes back into the room. He was about to hand them, until he remembers last night, which Issun attempted to unarm him of the razor; so he tosses it. Issun flinches as the blades were tossed at him, until he hears them land softly on the futon. The boy then cuts the pants off at the knees. Then he quickly switches his ruined shorts into the hose owner’s converted pants; he was amazed how well they fit, “Is the guy, my size?”
While Issun was changing, Kolbaine helped himself to a couple more beers for the road then heads to the door, “We’re going.”
“Okay,” he says as he follows his friend out of the shabby house.
